40 Days for Life is a national program that is coordinated here in the Akron area by Right to Life of Northeast Ohio.  It is a 40 day program of prayer, fasting or peaceful vigils and is done either personally in your home, at your church, your organization, or at designated abortion facilities.  From September 28 - November 6, 2011, our community will be one of many nationwide joining together for a faith filled, groundbreaking, coordinated pro-life mobilization.

Why 40 days? God used 40 day periods to transform individuals, communities...and the entire world!  From Noah in the flood, to Moses on the mountain, to the disciples after Christ's resurrection, it is clear that God sees the transformative value of His people accepting and meeting a 40 day challenge.

During the 40 days, you can choose to be as involved as you like.  You can do something as simple as providing the program's daily devotionals to others, or you can take the pro life message to the community through educational flyers, programs, petition drives or more and raising awareness about the sanctity of life.

The foundation of the program is prayer and fasting.  Fasting simply involves renouncing an activity that can put a barrier between you and God.  It could be television, the internet, chocolate, coffee, etc......you can really do without it.  Take the time you usually spend in those activities and give it back to God.  You can pray for God's guidance for those involved in prayer vigils and pro life activities around the country.  We are praying that with God's help, this groundbreaking effort will mark the beginning of the end of abortion in our city....and throughout America!

Take A Stand For Life
While all aspects of 40 Days for Life are crucial in our effort to end abortion, the most visible component is the peaceful prayer vigils outside the abortion facilities.  You can help make a life saving impact by signing up as an individual or group for one of our peaceful vigils during the 40 days at one of the two Akron area abortion centers:

Please....won't you help us by giving us the gift of your time?  You can sign up to participate by clicking the "Vigil Schedule" link at the top of this page.  PLEASE NOTE:  you will be asked to create a private 40 Days for Life account by providing your e-mail address and choosing a personal password.  This is so you can be sent an e-mail to remind you of your scheduled time.  Also, if you choose to sign up for time at BOTH akron locations, you will need to create two separate accounts.
