Bryan/College Station, Texas
In the fall of 2004, the people of Bryan/College Station, Texas (home of Texas A&M University) launched the first-
Testimonial: "After participating in the first 40 Days for Life here in Bryan/College Station, I have since been part of five additional 40 Days for Life campaigns. Every single one has energized local pro-life efforts and saved many lives from abortion. When you're honest with yourself and you really pray and discern about this, there's not a strong enough reason to not participate in this fall's historic campaign." Shawn Carney |
Green Bay, Wisconsin
A stay-at-home Catholic mom and a Jewish man held their first planning meeting at a McDonald's to coordinate the Green Bay, Wisconsin, 40 Days for Life campaign that:
Testimonial: "The beauty of 40 Days for Life is that faith and a moral compass are all that's required to participate. Our Heavenly Father, the giver of life, provides all. It's through God that hearts are touched and lives saved. He uses ordinary people to do this extraordinary thing and He does it in an amazingly simple way. He says, 'Walk with me and pray.' That's it -- pray, fast, and be a compassionate and persistent presence outside the abortion facility. It's such an easy thing to do... Be there and you'll witness the life-saving power of God! Prepare yourself for the power of love." Lori Koschnick |
Dallas, Texas The people of Dallas, Texas, conducted a 40 Days for Life campaign in the cold of winter with powerful results:
Testimonial: "The 40 Days for Life vigil is an awesome life-changing event. Do not miss this chance to alter history in your town, in your church and in your own heart. So many participants said they had a peaceful, spiritual, yet eye-opening experience at the abortion center that they had not expected. They felt close to God and knew that this is where HE wanted them to be. 40 Days for Life was instrumental in awakening the pro-life giant here in Dallas. People say that they are pro-life but do nothing about it. This vigil will give them an opportunity to put their opinions into action for the good of the community and to raise awareness in their churches. If you give young people a worthwhile cause to defend such as innocent unborn babies and they see their prayers answered right before their eyes, a mom changing her mind and letting her baby live, their faith will grow immensely. Kitsap County, Washington
A handful of Christians in Kitsap County, Washington, got together to kick-off a local 40 Days for Life campaign that made a community-wide impact:
Testimonial: "Planting seeds, in row after row, in field after field across this great country... This is what your community's 40 Days for Life campaign will do. A predominant number of Americans have become numb to the life issues. They have been lulled into complacency by our society's constant drumbeat promotion of sex devoid of its central natural consequence: babies. They have bought the lies of pro-abortion advocates and their dime-store philosophies that devalue life by sacrificing the unborn on the altar of 'reproductive freedom.' The effect of the 40 Days for Life campaign in your community will be to wake up many of those who have fallen asleep on this issue at this important juncture in the history of our society. While it is certain that you will not see the full fruition of this vast planting of seeds -- what a bountiful harvest such a major step of faith, hope, and charity will bring to you, your community, and the imperiled unborn. You can be confident that when you pray, fast, stand in vigil, and/or speak out on behalf of the helpless and voiceless unborn - God will bless your faith and your action." Glenn Stockton |
Houston, Texas Faithful believers in Houston worked tirelessly to conduct a 40 Days for Life campaign that:
Testimonial: "Our campaign began last summer on August 15th on a very hot steamy day in Houston. It started with a handful of faithful pro-life volunteers that grew steadily during the 40 Days and ended with countless new volunteers wanting to be involved. Over 120 women were directed away from the Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Houston during the campaign to Crisis Pregnancy Centers for free pregnancy tests and Christian counseling. Many then chose life for their unborn children. This 40 Days for Life campaign tremendously helped us to rally the volunteers that are needed in reaching our goal of a presence in prayer at this facility every hour that they are open, thus saving lives, one mom and one baby at a time! We are anxiously awaiting repeating the campaign this fall and involving even more of the faithful in Houston. Put your faith and trust in God, get started and work very hard and it will happen!" Charlotte, North Carolina
Two post-abortive women -- one Catholic and the other a Protestant -- joined forces to plan a local 40 Days for Life campaign that changed hearts and saved lives:
Testimonial: "When we pray at the clinics lives are saved. One young mother who chose to keep her baby told the 'pray-ers' outside that in the waiting room are pamphlets with quotations from many prominent Christians, including clergy, stating that abortion is acceptable to God. She told them that if they had not been there, witnessing to the truth, she could have let herself believe that lie. But even when we do not see such direct results, the Body of Christ -- united in sacrificial prayer at the clinic site -- calls down the power and grace of God. Only God can heal the evil of abortion, but He asks for our prayers, our fasting, our humility, and our united witness. Let us give Him these gifts and trust that He will magnify them and use them to heal our Land." Diane Stocker |
Madison, Wisconsin, most recently completed a local 40 Days for Life campaign that united Catholics and Protestants from across the region. Volunteers reported hearing from a source inside the local Planned Parenthood abortion facility that the clinic experienced the most turnarounds in its history.
In the early fall of 2007, a 40 Days for Life campaign was conducted in Aurora, Illinois, in an effort to prevent the opening of a massive new 22,000 square-foot Planned Parenthood abortion mega-center. On one Saturday, Chicago news outlets reported that more than 1,200 pro-life people came out at one time to participate in the 24-hour-a-day vigil.
God is clearly at work in amazing ways!
