The Fall 2010 Bakersfield 40 Days for Life campaign began at the Liberty Bell in Bakersfield on September 21, 2010. After a brief gathering featuring some patriotic words from Dr. Alvis West (dressed as one of our nation's founding fathers), the crowd marched through downtown Bakersfield to the FPA abortion center, the site of the 40 Days for Life vigil.
A rally at the vigil site featured Lamar Hagan and his unique style of music. Terri Palmquist shared how during the march through downtown, she encountered people whom she had first met on their way into the abortion chamber and that they expressed appreciation to her for saving their child's life. They were even wearing our "I am Praying to End Abortion" stickers as an expression of their commitment to stand for life.
Post-abortion testimonies were also a key part of the evening, both during the rally and during the evening news report on the 40 Days for Life kickoff!
