Mondays - Karen 10/19/2009 Wednesdays - Mary 10/14/2009 Today an incredible thing happened. As our Forty Days for Life group finished reciting the Rosary, we witnessed a man announce "she decided to have the baby", referring to the young lady beside him in his van. From what I could see, this woman had her feet on the dash board and her arms resting on her "blossoming" stomach as she turned to make eye contact with us. The man actually started to yell to us as he and the woman sat in a line of traffic. His minivan slowed down in front of our prayer group and with an enormous amount of enthusiasm and his arm held high in the air, he yelled "Your prayers worked, she decided to have the baby!" In disbelief, I turned to Rory Reichenberg to confirm what this man had announced to us. We obviously do not know when the decision was made, but based on this man's excitement I would not be at all surprised if it was made very shortly before we saw them. With immense joy in our hearts, we watched as the van continued on right passed the abortion clinic at 2500 Main St. We then recited another Rosary in thanksgiving for this miracle. Please pray for this woman that God will watch over her and her baby as they continue down this "path of life."
Apparently the clinic is no longer closed on Mondays since there was some activity the past two Mondays. In fact, even Monday evening, the lights were on inside the clinic; I thought perhaps they were doing paperwork. At approximately 8:30 p.m., a vehicle with 2 females drove out from behind the building. The question is, were they workers or victims? As they left, lights were still on, so one would assume an employee remained. With the weather being milder, there were people passing by on bicycles. As people nonchanlantly pass the clinic, do they ever stop to think about what is taking place inside that building?
On the positive side, we praise God for the 2 confirmed saves and 2 other possible babies that were saved in answer to our prayers and those that witness at the clinic each of these 40 days. In addition, Andrew, the seminarian at our parish received an email from one of the other seminarians asking for prayers for someone he knew who was going to have an abortion. She did change her mind (perhaps through our prayers), although her mother still isn't very supportive. I passed along the offer that our 40 Days for Life community would like to have a baby shower for her. Consider the ripple effect of just ONE life saved and how it may affect countless other lives. That child now has the opportunity to grow up, have children and grandchildren of their own, perhaps be called to serve God in some special way, and thus fulfill God’s purpose for their life. Think of the mother/father, who by changing their mind, will not have to grieve over the loss of their child, sometimes many years later, as abortion is a decision that can never be reversed. Each child that is aborted is a loss to everyone whether we realize it or not. Thank you for your continued vigil participation and prayers and know they make a difference.
