As we prayed at the abortion facility, my eyes became transfixed by the street crossing sign on the opposite side of the street.Funny, I never really noticed it before, but this evening the flashing red hand seemed to be saying, "Stop, don't do it; stop, don't have the abortion. As it counted down, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, Stop, stop, STOP!The red hands no longer flashes, but is constant now.As the traffic signal changes, we pray their minds be changed as well.To indicate it's okay to walk, the white figure of a person appears; however, it looks like a person in a running stance.I think - that's right, run from the abortion clinic.Run and never look back. Our prayers continue for all who are considering that decision.Remember the red hand which shouts STOP.
Again some lights were on in the clinic Monday evening.By 9:00 p.m., the lights were out although we didn't see anyone exit via the driveway or front door. They must have exited out the back door and down the side street. Most likely they are trying to avoid the vigil participants, although I'm sure they are well aware of our presence.Do we weigh on their conscience? That may explain why they want to avoid us.Are they aware our prayers are for them as well?
Sundays - Stan 10/25/2009
Sunday is usually so quiet at the vigil. It is a day to reflect and to recoup. But there were several signs of God active in our midst. Early in the morning, a young woman walked by, carrying a bag and looking defeated. When we said good morning, she said it wasn't good. She had just come from taking care of her ill father, but now she needed to get across town and she missed the bus. There would not be another bus for a long while. So one of our group offered her a ride. During the ride, she couldn't get over it! She said she thought that "people like us" were not interested in helping anyone, just telling people not to do things. Another myth exploded...
Then Pat arrived after the one-hour ride from SUNY Fredonia with....five other students from their pro-life group! Thank you, Jesus! What a powerful witness to the faith of young people. Please bring everyone back for the Victory Celebration next Sunday, Pat! It's even a shorter ride for you!
But God saved the best for last.
Sometime between seven and eight in the evening, a young woman pulled up and parked and walked over to Rich and Barbara who were quietly praying. She said that someone like them had been there seven years ago one day when she was about to go for an abortion...and she kept the baby...and she showed them the picture of her seven-year-old littel girl, and thanked them....
