Important information to know for the prayer vigil:
1. The fall 40 Days for Life is a 14 hour (6 a.m.-8 p.m.), 40 Day peaceful, prayer vigil in front of Planned Parenthood on
2. Under our 1st amendment rights, we have the right to be there. However, you should be aware the
Revised CODE
No person shall knowingly obstruct, detain, hinder, impede, or block another person's entry to or exit from a health care facility.
No person shall knowingly approach another person within 8ft of such person, unless such other person consents, for the purpose of passing a leaflet or handbill to, displaying a sign to, or engaging in oral protest, education, or counseling with such other person in the public way or sidewalk area within a radius of 100ft from any entrance door to a healthcare facility.
So…stay off Planned Parenthood property. Being on the sidewalk is fine. Vehicles may be parked along the street.
3. If you feel led by the Holy Spirit to talk to someone, feel free to do so (from 8 feet away). Women can be directed to the Old Colorado City Pregnancy Center, which is right across the street (The OCCPC offers free ultrasounds and is open Tuesday through Saturday). You may pass out literature if the person consents (however, do not go onto Planned Parenthood property for any reason. If they are standing on the property, they must come over to you.). We will have a container with flyers and literature if you feel led to pass anything out.
4. For those who have never been there before, many people spend there time there praying the rosary, reading the Bible, singing, or praying silently. Pray in whatever way the Holy Spirit leads you.
5. The police have been informed of our peaceful presence. If anyone makes you feel nervous or threatened, do not hesitate to call 911.
6. Please leave any graphic or controversial signs at home. We are there to pray. Peaceful, loving signs are ok.
7. Abortions are done at Planned Parenthood on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The Old Colorado City Pregnancy Center is open on those days also.
8. Most of all, we thank God for this wonderful opportunity to bring His love and mercy to women and men. There is such a need for us to show the love of God by being there and praying. You never know when your very presence will affect someone going into the abortion clinic or just driving by. I thank you for your commitment to help the unborn and their mothers and fathers.
