Four Recent Saves

Our Family for LIFE has been on the sidewalk in front of the abortuary every day that a mother has come to terminate the LIFE of her baby.  We have called out to them, pleading with them to come talk to us, to let us help them.  We tell them that we care about them and want to save them from a lifetime of heartache.  And, some of them do come talk with us!

FIRST SAVE:

The other day, a man, after his companion entered the “clinic”, walked down to our line, read our signs and, with a perplexed look on his face, said, “I agree with that!”  We asked him, “Do you have someone in the clinic?”  He replied, “Yes, a friend.  She asked me to drive her to an appointment.  We drove from Valdosta, Georgia.”  Valdosta is a 2-hour drive from Jacksonville!  He was truly just doing a kind act for a friend, and now, he was in the middle of something that went against his conscience.

We asked him to go in and get her; we told him that he didn’t want to be an accomplice to this horrible act, that he would regret it FOREVER.  He asked if we would talk to her and told us that she didn’t speak English.  We assured him that we would be able to communicate with her and would offer her guidance with love.  He went back towards the clinic.

A few minutes later, two employees from a medical office close to the abortuary approached us with the young lady.  They said that she wanted to get an abortion but needed an interpreter to help her get it.  With a twinkle in their eyes, they said, “We knew if we brought her to you, you would help her!”

We lovingly walked her over to the Women’s Help Center and assured her that they would take care of her.  As we walked, she told us her friend had no idea what she was planning.  She was counseled for an hour, thus missing her scheduled appointment with death.  He waited patiently while he pondered the whole situation.  They, the three of them, left for their 2-hour return trip to Valdosta.  What a web was woven to save that child of God!

SECOND SAVE:

Back on the sidewalk that same day, our one-hour stance from 1PM – 2PM was over.  As we were packing up, a man and a woman came out of the mill and got into a car which had been parked in the parking lot the whole time we were there.  Though we didn’t notice them when they entered the mill, we noticed their car and prayed that a miracle would happen.  They pulled away from the mill, drove down the driveway and stopped right in front of us at the curb.  The man was driving; the woman was in the passenger seat with her window half down.  He gave us the thumbs up sign and said, “We changed our minds!”  Traffic was coming, and he was aware of it, but he did repeat those four beautiful words, “We changed our minds!”  The mother was quiet, but smiling.  At the end of the day, WE, too, were SMILING!

THIRD SAVE:

Another day, another couple walked straight up to our line and asked if we knew where the Women’s Health Clinic (the abortuary) was.  They didn’t speak English.  A bi-lingual person on the line very willingly helped them find the Women’s Help Center (a crisis pregnancy center) which is just two doors away!  After viewing an ultrasound of their baby, they became very emotional, changed their minds and went home to celebrate their decision for LIFE!

FOURTH SAVE:

Just when we are thinking that God has spoiled us with letting us know by multiple saves that our efforts are worth the daily hour of our time, we get a super gift from Him.  Today, a young lady and her brother approached us to tell us that what we are doing is effective and important.  She proceeded to share her story of 25 years ago.  She was very young when she was raped, too young to even understand what was happening or the consequences of the act.  When she realized that she was pregnant, her uncle took her to an abortion clinic here in Jacksonville.  She passed people on the sidewalk holding signs indicating to her that what she was doing was wrong.  Trying to process everything while she was on the table and being drugged for the procedure, it came to her that the child within her was created by God and that she couldn’t have it killed.  By some supernatural strength, she got up from the table and, assisted by her uncle, left the clinic!  She said that her 25-year old son is the shining star of her three children!

Is there any work more rewarding than this?  Some people ask us if we get paid for standing on the sidewalk.  We chuckle and say, “No, not in this LIFE, but our retirement benefits are HEAVENLY!”
