It has been my privilege to stand up for life as a part of the 40 Days for Life on several occasions, silently holding a sign on the sidewalk in front of Planned Parenthood and praying to end abortion.  Our local abortion provider is located on a very busy thoroughfare in the middle of a vast expanse of college student apartments, with a busy bus stop right near to where we stand to pray, and so we receive a wide variety of responses, some of which have further sensitized me to the urgent need for prayer.  It is also located just to the south of our Christian pro-life pregnancy care center, Alternatives of Kalamazoo, and so as I pray against abortion, I also pray for their ministry, recalling the words of Psalm 48, “Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God. . . beautiful for situation. . . on the sides of the north.”  I would highly encourage anyone to participate in this very peaceful demonstration for it not only makes an impact on the minds of those who witness us, but it also makes an impression on our hearts as it gives us a little opportunity to have “the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives” 
(2 Corinthians 1:5).
