                    Celebration!

November 6, Day 40...Today we had what can only be described as a spectacular finale to our Manassas 40 Days For Life Fall Campaign! With the sun shining brightly and spirits high, about 70 men, women, and children gathered for our concluding vigil hour at 2:00 PM. Songs and prayers brought unity and a fitting spiritual focus to the event while two speakers provided inspiration and motivation for the future. Our appreciation extends to Jackie Anderson from Students for Life and Pastor Michael Rogers from Manassas Park Bible Church who encouraged us, and to Fr. Jeb Donelan from All Saints Catholic Church who prayed with us and joined the celebration.

God had a final gift for us during the hour in addition to the good weather and sizable crowd. While we were praying a woman drove up and wanted to share a story with all of us. Some time ago one of her close friends learned from the doctor that she was pregnant with a Down's Syndrome child. She was considering aborting the baby when she came upon several people praying at one of our previous Manassas vigils.

The Prayer Warriors spoke with her and convinced her that she should keep the baby while offering help. She listened, changed her mind, and later delivered the baby - a healthy child with NO signs of Down's Syndrome! The second noteworthy aspect of this incident is that out of almost 70 people in the crowd, the exact person who needed to go over to the car with her husband to speak to the woman was moved to do so by the Holy Spirit. As it turns out the woman in the car was deaf and our Prayer Warrior "happened to have" prior experience with sign language which helped in communicating the story!

After the hour of prayer our group traveled to All Saints Church for a time of fellowship and celebration. Aside from the good conversation and delicious desserts, the highlight of the afternoon was an entertaining slide presentation put together by our Campaign Director, Mike Baldwin. Forty days of photos collected from the campaign were set to music, reminding all of us of the joys and sacrifices we've made uniting in the common goal of saving babies and changing the hearts of our community.

A final "thank you!" to everyone who worked so hard, both behind the scenes and on the street, to make this the most successful campaign for life in the history of the Manassas community. Please watch your email tomorrow for some news about where we go from here!

Quote for the day, from Vince Lombardi: "Individual commitment to a group effort - that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work."
