Special Appeal

Greetings everyone,

On November 18, Action Life will be hosting a fundraising Gala Dinner ($70 per person with $32 tax receipt) to support its pro-life work.

Action Life is a wonderful pro-life educational charity located right here in Ottawa which seeks to highlight, through the vehicle of education, the harm that abortion and other anti-life practices cause in our society. One of Action Life's mandates is to reach the public through advertising and media campaigns. The cost of doing so, however, is expensive, but such efforts are very effective and the pro-life community needs to support these kind of initiatives which provide tangible results and save lives.

Time Slot Report: We need help – less than two weeks to go in the Campaign!

Four out of the next five days are covered either by Parishes or Parish groups, which is very helpful in maintaining a presence at the Vigil site. The only problem shifts for the remainder of the week are the following:

After 4:00 PM on Tuesday October 19th.

After 9 AM on Friday October 20th

Closing Rally Update:

October 31st: Closing Rally - Celebrate another successful 40 Days Campaign.
Starts 6:00 pm at Ground Zero with hymns, and great speakers (details to follow).
This will be followed by a candlelight procession to St. Patrick's Basilica.
Vespers Service at St Patrick’s Basilica presided by Archbishop Terrence Prendergast starting at 7:00 pm.

Ground Zero Report

October 15th: Wayside Academy from Peterborough at Ground Zero On Friday October 15th, a group of ten students (grades 8 to 12 ), and six adults from Wayside Academy in Peterborough took a school bus to Ottawa to spend time at the Ground Zero vigil site. After a 31/2 hour ride, they disembarked across from the abortion mill to form a prayerful life-chain between 10 and 11 AM. This impressive site caused quite a stir across the road. I am here in Ottawa to study Canon Law, and it would have been very easy and very tempting for me just to keep my head in the books, lay low, finish my degree and then head back home. I could’ve told myself, “don’t worry; you can get involved with the pro-life efforts once you’re back home.” However, for me, that was simply not an option. Do firefighters sit at the station learning new techniques, while across town there is a burning building with people inside? No, they go and do what they can to save those people. And to me, what happens every week in that building (65 Bank St.) is just as serious and just as urgent. I refuse to sit by, while innocent babies are violently killed and countless others are left seriously wounded, for the rest of their lives...read the rest here...

Operations Report: The pro-abort Mime across is the street can be annoying. But do try and concentrate on the unborn child when she might try to distract you. She appears harmless, so don't become alarmed. She's just desperate, knowing that things are not going their way.

Ground Zero Report

I was at the 12-1 pm slot on Thanksgiving Day along with 4 other people. During this time, a well dressed couple (late 20’s) arrived across the street near the abortuary and took out a piece of paper that was handwritten “Giving thanks for the right to choose…” Why is it that they never finish this sentence!
