If my people who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray ,and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways ,then will l hear them from heaven and will ,forgive their sin and will heal their land. - 2 Chronicles 7:14
Being involved in the 40 Days for Life campaign against abortion is vital. The first thing everyone should do is begin with prayer and fasting. We can pray at any time or anywhere. We should not cease to pray for an end to abortion and we should do this daily.
We should pray for the baby in the womb, the mother that thinks of abortion, the mother that has had an abortion, the doctor performing the abortion, the staff aiding the abortion and all those who for one reason or another are supporting abortion. We must also not forget to fast. Christ told us that some demons can only be driven out by prayer and fasting. The two go hand in hand. Fasting is a sacrifice that helps us reach beyond our own limitations with God's Grace.
Fasting is not a Christian diet. For those who can not fast from food, they can fast from TV, alcohol …. anything that separates you from God. While standing at the vigil site in prayer, we must constantly remind ourselves that we are doing so because of self-giving love, as Christ would have us do. Christ desires that all come to know Him and find salvation through Him. We must reflect that desire by allowing Christ to live in us more fully. This is what the peaceful prayer vigil is all about.

Finally, build up your strength in union with the Lord and by means of his mighty power. Put on all the armour that God gives you, so that you will be able to stand up against the Devil's evil tricks. For we are not fighting against human beings but against the wicked spiritual forces in the heavenly world, the rulers, authorities, and cosmic powers of this dark age. So put on God's armour now! Then when the evil day comes, you will be able to resist the enemy's attacks; and after fighting to the end, you will still hold your ground. So stand ready, with truth as a belt tight around your waist, with righteousness as your breastplate, and as your shoes the readiness to announce the Good News of peace. At all times carry faith as a shield; for with it you will be able to put out all the burning arrows shot by the Evil One. And accept salvation as a helmet, and the word of God as the sword which the Spirit gives you. Do all this in prayer, asking for God's help. Pray on every occasion, as the Spirit leads. For this reason keep alert and never give up; pray always for all God's people. - Ephesians 6:10-18
