Pittsburgh area 40 Days for Life Campaign

This Spring, from February 13th to March 24th, our community will be one of more than 200 cities in North America – and beyond – that join together for the largest and longest coordinated pro-life mobilization in history -- the 40 Days for Life campaign.

40 Days for Life is a focused pro-life effort that consists of:

We will pray that, with God's help, this groundbreaking effort marked the beginning of the end of abortion in our city -- and throughout America.

Take a stand for life

While all aspects of 40 Days for Life are crucial in our effort to end abortion, the most visible component is the peaceful prayer vigil outside the local abortion (or Planned Parenthood) facility.

You can help make a life-saving impact by joining our local vigil at:

This is at the intersection of Liberty Avenue and Smithfield Street. Metered parking is available from 9a-4p Monday thru Saturday. After 6pm Monday thru Saturday and all day Sunday you can park right in front of the clinic!

There is a parking lot on 9th street between Liberty and Penn Avenues and a parking garage at 9th Street and Liberty Avenue.

To participate individually  in our local 40 Days for Life vigil, click on the "Vigil Schedule" link at the top of this page to see what shifts are available. Individuals can sign up directly. If you wish to sign up as a group to participate in the vigil for a 4-hour "shift," please click on the list of churches below to see which shifts are still available, and either call or email Nikki Bruni (contact info listed below) with your desired shift, and we will post your time slot on the calendar.

The vigil is peaceful; participants sign a "Statement of Peace" with a pledge that they will conduct themselves in a Christ-like manner. All people are welcome!

Additionally, beginning with this campaign, we invite you to participate in our concurrent 40 Days for Life Fast campaign. Our goal is that at least one of us would be fasting and praying on each of the days in our 40 Days for Life Campaign. This way we can have a continual fast to support our prayers for this year's campaign.

How: At least 1 person signs up for each of the days during the 40 Days for Life campaign

What: 24 hours of liquids only fast

When: February 13th through March 24th during the 40 Days for Life Campaign

Why: To enrich and empower our vigils and prayers for the men and women contemplating abortion, and for abortion clinics to close!
Please Note: Your traditional Lenten sacrifices and abortion clinic prayer vigils are not replaced by this fasting. This is in addition to those devotions.
