HOME: Welcome to 40 Days for Life

Vigil Day One

40 Days for Life: Look beyond elections, focus on local impact written by David Bereit.

“With the defeat of pro-life ballot initiatives in Colorado and South Dakota, the election of an ardent abortion advocate for president, and an increase in the number of abortion proponents in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, pro-lifers may feel a sense of despair,” said David Bereit, national campaign director of 40 Days for Life.

“However," he said, "we have every reason to be optimistic about the profound pro-life shift that is beginning to take place below the radar.”

Thank you to all of the dedicated vigil and prayer volunteers who participated in the Fall campaign.

Your prayers and witness saved several women and their children from the tragedy of abortion.

On September 24 - November 2, our community joined more than 170 cities in 45 states joining together for the largest and longest coordinated pro-life mobilization in history -- the 40 Days for Life campaign.

40 Days for Life is a focused pro-life effort that consists of:

  • 40 days of prayer and fasting
  • 40 days of peaceful vigil
  • 40 days of community outreach

We are praying that, with God's help, this groundbreaking effort will mark the beginning of the end of abortion in Raleigh and throughout America.

Take a stand for life

While all aspects of 40 Days for Life are crucial in our effort to end abortion, the most visible component is the peaceful prayer vigil outside a local abortion facility.

In Raleigh there are 3 abortion clinics within 7 miles of each other. Over 9000 abortions are performed each year in Wake County.

In the Spring of 2008 we held our vigil at the NWHO abortuary on Six Forks Road. This fall we held our vigil at

A Woman's Choice of Raleigh
3305 Drake Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607

The vigil is always peaceful and prayerful. All participants agreed to abide by the "Statement of Peace" with a pledge that they will conduct themselves in a Christ-like manner.

Directions, parking information, and a map to the site of the Drake Circle abortion clinic are located on the Vigil schedule page.
