Looking forward to the next coordinated 40 Days for Life campaign? Then mark your calendar for September 23 — November 1.

So far, more than 215,000 people in 240 cities have participated in this life-changing event — and we know of at least 1,561 lives that have been saved from abortion.

Applications to host 40 Days for Life will be accepted later this summer. If there has not been a 40 Days for Life effort in your community yet, would you be willing to take on a leadership role? 40 Days for Life campaign wrap-up for spring 2009

The most recent coordinated 40 Days for Life campaign was conducted in 137 communities — 129 in the United States, five in Canada, two in Northern Ireland and one in Australia. In all, more than 41,000 people participated — and 433 lives were spared from abortion.

 40 Days for Life in San Fernando Valley, CA

Another 40 Days for Life coordinated campaign has just concluded. Thanks to everyone in 135 cities in the United States, Canada, Australia and Northern Ireland who took part in 40 Days for Life events!

Richmond 40 Days for Life team promises to keep going

 40 Days for Life in Richmond, Virginia

The 40 Days for Life team in Richmond, Virginia is already making plans for the fall campaign from September 23 – November 1. The group is also committed to prayer at the abortion center at least two days a week between now and the start of that campaign.

The Lenten season gave the group ample time to reflect on Christ's sufferings, and prayer vigils frequently touched on the gospel narratives related to the passion. Volunteers used chalk to mark prayer stations on the sidewalk in front of the abortion facility, as they stopped at each point to pray, sing and read scripture.

Au Canada, c'est 40 Jours pour la Vie!

 40 Days for Life in Montreal

Five Canadian cities hosted this year's first 40 Days for Life – Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Winnipeg and Edmonton.

Montreal and Ottawa have web sites in both English and French ... and obviously, the French-speaking Canadians have responded warmly to the message prions pour la fin de l'avortementpray for the end of abortion.

Spring campaign director Shawn Carney had a chance to talk to Georges Buscemi, the local coordinator in Montreal. Learn a bit more about this unique Canadian campaign – and hear a special greeting in French from Georges!

 Candlelight vigil for 40 Days for Life in Austin, Texas

40 Days for Life is international in scope, but in each community in which it is held, it is essentially a local happening.
