Planned Parenthood director quits job in Bryan, Texas

Abby Johnson and Shawn Carney at Planned Parenthood in Bryan, Texas

During the fall 40 Days for Life campaign, the director of the Planned Parenthood abortion center in Bryan/College Station, Texas resigned her job.

Abby Johnson had worked at the clinic for eight years, but departed from the facility following a profound change of heart about abortion.

The Planned Parenthood clinic was the location of the first-ever 40 Days for Life campaign in the fall of 2004, and the prayer and fasting initiative has been held outside the doors of Johnson’s former workplace five additional times

Shawn Carney (shown above with Abby Johnson outside the Planned Parenthood abortion facility where she used to work), the director of the Coalition for Life and a 40 Days for Life board member, has been working with Johnson since she left her job last month. The former clinic director has even begun to pray outside the clinic where she formerly worked.

“It’s truly been a testament to the power of prayer and the courage of Abby to leave a job she felt she could no longer do in good conscience,” Carney said. “It has been a joy for all of our volunteers who have prayed outside of the clinic for the conversion of the clinic workers to witness that conversion actually happen." 40 Days for Life in America's abortion capital — New York City

Shawn Carney, the 40 Days for Life campaign director, recently visited 40 Days for Life campaigns New York City. Shawn made a short video account of his visit to the 40 Days for Life campaign in the city labeled “the abortion capital of America.”

You'll hear from a volunteer who puts in 6 to 10 hours every day outside of two of the largest abortion centers in the United States, and see hundreds of passers-by receiving a pro-life education on the street. The video is loud. Everything’s in motion. It’s got attitude. But hey — it’s New York City!

Kalispell, Montana Planned Parenthood abortion center closing!

40 Days for Life in Kalispell, Montana

Last spring, a 40 Days for Life prayer vigil was held in front of a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic in Kalispell, Montana. Planned Parenthood has just announced that this facility will close on November 20.

The 40 Days for Life team in Kalispell is convinced – prayer is powerful, and it works!

Planned Parenthood told the local media it is closing the center for economic reasons — or as Stacy James, a Montana Planned Parenthood executive, admitted to the daily newspaper, “We’ve not had the patient numbers to keep the doors open.”

40 Days for Life fall 2009 campaign concludes; blessings abound

Thank you for an amazing 40 days! As of the dawn of Day 40 of this fall's 40 Days for Life campaign, we have received 534 reports of mothers who've turned away from abortion abortion appointments and spared the lives of unborn children. We know of eight more abortion center employees who have quit their jobs – and we're praying for others who are considering it.

David Bereit, the national director of 40 Days for Life, marked the midpoint of this campaign at a rally in Augusta, Maine. Here's a video of his presentation.
