PLEASE ADOPT-A-DAY WITH YOUR FRIENDS OR FAMILY MEMBERS: We need courageous leaders who are willing to recruit a group to fill a 7am-7pm vigil day. This is critical in order for us to make this LIFE-SAVING MINISTRY as effective as possible! Please contact the vigil leaders with questions. We can answer questions, provide all necessary resources, and even come out to your parish or church to help recruit vigil volunteers. Please contact Joe Lazar (847)309-0360 or Terese Halm (847)276-7894 with questions.
40 DAYS FOR LIFE IS OPEN TO PEOPLE OF ANY FAITH OR DENOMINATION WHO
WISH TO BEAR WITNESS TO THE SACREDNESS OF HUMAN LIFE!

Joe Lazar
I am the Faith Network Leader for Vision 2020 Cook County, a grassroots effort to combat the abortion epidemic in the Chicagoland area through church engagement. If you have prayerfully participated in a 40 Days for Life vigil in the past, then I want to wholeheartedly thank you for being a part of the growing movement, which is determined to put an end to the havoc, which the abortion profiteers have created, not only for defenseless children, but also for mothers, fathers, families, and communities.
If you haven?t participated, then I?d like to leave you with two things to consider. If an abortion center was instead a gas chamber, such as those used by the Nazis to exterminate millions, would we feel differently about doing something? If our culture feels differently about these two things, then perhaps we need to ask why we feel differently. The abortion industry has terminated several times more innocent lives than the Nazis did.
Secondly, I?d like to point out that while our culture has portrayed abortion as a matter of a woman?s choice, in reality, it is actually about how every person chooses to value every human life. As an Assyrian Christian, whose family immigrated from Iraq, I can speak to the cost of silence in the face of evil. Our ancestry has endured three documented genocides during the last century, due in part, to the world?s unwillingness to take action. You may be the one person that is most needed in your church and in your community to bear witness to the sacredness of human life. Please join Terese and I, and the ranks of thousands who have prayerfully stood as witnesses for truth through 40 Days for Life. WITH RESPECT FOR ALL HUMAN LIFE!

Terese Halm
Ever since I was exposed to the horrific reality of abortion in high school, it has always been near and dear to my heart. I was blessed to study at Franciscan University of Steubenville where I prayed outside my first clinic. To be honest, it broke my heart and set a fire in me to be present to pray for all of the victims of abortion; the women, doctors, escorts, babies, families, and workers.
I had the opportunity to learn from Msgr. Reilly of New York over a weekend, and it really put passion in my heart to be present and fight the evil of abortion as Christ would; with love and compassion. I remember Msgr. Reilly saying that it is was only by the grace of God that I was not walking into an abortion clinic, and to be grateful for that, and to go home if I judge any of them. This is so true, and these women need to be loved, supported, helped, and offered resources and hope!
I first started to feel called to help with 40 Days for Life when I received a mailing that filled my heart with hope to the point of tears. The mailing was from a few years ago and told how despite the current president and government passing the most anti-life agendas at that time, that clinics were closing due to women choosing life and workers leaving the industry due to the POWER OF GOD!
It breaks my heart that our beautiful state of Illinois has passed such horrific laws. Although, laws are important and need to be changed, even more so, we need hearts to be moved and the power of GOD to shed light on this great EVIL. I felt called to help with 40 Days for life and start a campaign in Chicago. I was only a 26-year-old youth minister at the time. However, the Lord does not call the equipped, He equips those He calls (1 Corinthians 1:27-29). If not now, when? "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men do nothing.? - Edmund Burke. What sacrifice can you make to promote, recruit and spend one day at 40 Days for Life this fall? We need your help! I pray that you take the time to pray about what you can do and have the courage to say YES to whatever God calls you to do. "The ultimate test of your greatness is the way you treat every human being." -St. John Paul II. Thank you so much! May the Peace and Victory of Christ reign in your heart, your life, and in Chicago!
