Our Salem 40 Days for Life Campaign Kickoff Rally is Sunday, February 14, 3-4 pm on the sidewalk next to Planned Parenthood on Wolverine Street NE!
[Weather note: Though it is cold and rainy, and there is freezing rain that is doing damage and may make roads slick, 40 Days volunteers typically persevere in uncomfortable conditions, for the sake of the preborn babies we are determined to stand up for. We have decided to go ahead with the Rally as planned. Please attend if you can do so safely.]
We are honored to have five speakers to inspire us:
DeAnna Tapia is Community Liaison for the Salem Tabernacle at 5010 Acts Way NE, just off Cordon Road. DeAnna and her husband Raul operate Professional Interpreters, Inc., in Salem. Having had an abortion in her youth, repented of it, and experienced the healing grace of God, she will tell her story of hope.
Beth Williams is a former leader of Salem 40 Days for Life, 2017-2018. Adopted as an infant born of an unwed teenage mother and now a mother of two herself, she is passionately pro-life. She will tell of her journey from hostility toward all who promote abortion to understanding, love, and compassion for them.
Rev. John Boyle is pastor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Cottage Grove, Oregon. An immigrant from Britain and now a naturalized citizen of the United States, Rev. Boyle is also adjutant judicial vicar for the archdiocese of Portland.
Rev. Jerry Miranda, pastor and bishop of Salem Tabernacle (Tabernáculo de Salem) will open the Rally with prayer.
Adan Magana, pastoral intern with Pastor Mark Hanke at Salem First Baptist Church will emcee the Rally.
You all are invited to the Kickoff Rally and the prayer, fasting, sidewalk vigil, and community outreach campaign that begins the following Wednesday, February 17. We will be gathering on the sidewalk out of love for mothers and fathers who experience unexpected pregnancies and for the babies their mothers are carrying.
Prepare for precipitation on the 14th. (No problem--we're Oregonians after all).
Please bring a canopy and set it up early, if you have one.
Please gather on the sidewalk on the north side of Wolverne Street next to Planned Parenthood.
Please observe current rules for Covid-19 safety.
Please sign up for hours on the online calendar on this website!
You may park along Coral Avenue or Wolverine Street away from the Rally area and other lots nearby.
