Abortion doesn't just kill babies. It hurts women too.
A woman struggling in the wake of her abortion left a handwritten note on the Ann Arbor, Michigan, 40 Days for Life team's minivan:
HELLO, in April 2024, I came here the most vulnerable and scared I have ever been and they took advantage of that and it has destroyed my life. I am trying to use my pain and story for God's purpose. I want to help babys [sic] and women.
I came here this morning to try and further face my pain. My life is in shambles. I just need to talk to someone and I also want to do anything I can to help. I want to tell my story. Please contact me. For what, I don't know, but I can see from the message on the back of the van that you are family in Christ.
Please pray for this devastated woman to find God's peace and healing.
Meanwhile, Ann Arbor leader Sandie reported seeing the 30th ambulance visit her local Planned Parenthood since late 2015.
Vigil participants posed for a picture holding a sign for each documented ambulance.
Unfortunately, Sandie's campaign is anything but an anomaly. As usual, numerous 40 Days for Life participants reported emergency vehicles arriving as they stood vigil.
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Prayer warriors in the Steel City saw a fire truck, ambulance, and police car show up. Emergency personnel entered Planned Parenthood with a stretcher.
"They came out later with a woman about 30 years old on it," wrote the Pittsburgh team. "She was alert but appeared to be uncomfortable. ... Pray for her."
Fort Collins, Colorado
Fort Collins leader Kristy said that the third ambulance of 2026 arrived at the Planned Parenthood where her team prays.
"No abortion clinics are inspected or regulated in Colorado!!" Kristy wrote. "None!! This is outrageous!!"
Granite City, Illinois
Rose in Granite City said she takes "lots of pictures of ambulances" at the abortion facility where she stands vigil.
Denver, Colorado
Lisa in Denver also reported an ambulance. "They took somebody out on a gurney," she said.
Fortunately, her campaign has had no shortage of happy stories. An abortion-vulnerable teen learned about 40 Days for Life and emailed Lisa to ask for help.
"She was 50/50 on [whether] she should carry her baby to term," Lisa explained.
Both parents were facing peer pressure to abort. But vigil participants' encouragement provided a helpful nudge.
"The mother had her first prenatal appointment and reported that she is very early in her pregnancy," Lisa continued. "With excitement, [she] shared 'We heard the baby's heartbeat.' Praised be Jesus Christ, they have decided to choose life."
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.

God, you have given me more than I could possibly ask. Help me never stray from your presence, for it is you whom I long to share with everyone I encounter. Show your face through my humility, direct my steps, and let every word I speak be from you. You ascended to Heaven not to abandon us but to be with us. You sent the Holy Spirit to guide our actions. As we conclude this 40-day fast, pour forth your grace on us to carry your light to the ends of the world. Amen.
