Welcome to 40 Days for Life, Edinburgh!
Our peaceful prayer vigil will take place from 22nd September - 29th October from 8.30am-5pm. We are praying outside Chalmers Centre, 2a Chalmers Street, Edinburgh, standing on the pavement opposite the pedestrian entrance.

Access and Parking
Lothian buses 23, 27, 35, 45, 47 and Skylink 300 stop right next to Chalmers Centre. Buses 2 and 24 also stop nearby.
Chalmers Centre is a 16-minute walk from Princes Street, or you can get the 23 or 27 bus from the Mound.
Please ensure you follow all government advice when using public transport, including wearing a face mask.
There is limited on-street parking nearby, and several off-street car parks:
- Semple Street Parking (10 minute walk)
- NCP Castle Terrace (8 minute walk)
- Q-Park Quartermile (6 minute walk)
- Princes Exchange (6 minute walk) - does not open until 9.30am
Please do not give any cause for claims of harassment by approaching members of the public, Chalmers clients or Chalmers staff. People will come and talk to you.
We take the health and safety of our volunteers, and the general public, very seriously. As well as abiding by the Statement of Peace and following Government advice on staying safe, we would ask our volunteers to please:
- Use hand sanitiser when you arrive at the vigil site, and when you leave
- Clean signs between uses with a disinfectant wipe
Statement of Peace
40 Days for Life is committed to ending the scourge of abortion through prayerful, peaceful, lawful vigils demonstrating truth, love & compassion. If you wish to participate in any 40 Days for Life activity, you will need to sign this Statement of Peace:
I agree to abide by this Statement of Peace:
I will pursue only peaceful, prayerful and lawful solutions to the violence of abortion by supporting life from natural conception to natural death
I will show compassion and reflect Christ’s love to all
I will not intentionally cause harm or commit crimes or violence
I am in no way, directly or indirectly, associated with any abortion provider
While participating in a 40 Days for Life activity:
I will not obstruct or block driveways, sidewalks, roadways or any lawful passage
I will not litter, deface, damage or trespass on another’s property
I will closely attend to any minors in my care
I will not threaten, curse, yell at or verbally abuse anyone
I will neither commit any act of violence, threaten or touch any person, nor display or discuss weapons
I will be polite and cooperative with law enforcement and valid civil authority
If asked to leave by a valid authority, I will comply and contact 40 Days for Life HQ
I will strive to maintain the safety of myself and others by:
Trying to have at least two vigil participants on-site at a time and never being alone after dark
Holding vigil in a safe, public and lawful location
Immediately calling and cooperating with law enforcement and recording any incident if I feel unsafe or if any act of violence or damage is made or threatened
- Leaving and calling law enforcement if I feel threatened or endangered
