Prayer of St John Paul Ii:

O Mary,

bright dawn of the new world,
Mother of the living,
to you do we entrust the cause of life.
Look down, O Mother,
upon the vast numbers
of babies not allowed to be born,
of the poor whose lives are made difficult,
of men and women
who are victims of brutal violence,
of the elderly and the sick killed
by indifference or out of misguided mercy.

Grant that all who believe in your Son
may proclaim the Gospel of life
with honesty and love
to the people of our time.

Obtain for them the grace
to accept that Gospel
as a gift ever new,
the joy of celebrating it with gratitude
throughout their lives
and the courage to bear witness to it
resolutely, in order to build,
together with all people of good will,
the civilization of truth and love,
to the praise and glory of God,
the Creator and lover of life.

Evangelium Vitae, The Gospel of Life, 105

Event Overview

As pro-lifers, we know that unborn babies, who have no voice of their own, need us to stand up and be a visible witness for them. The opportunity to do so is right around the corner...

For 40 consecutive days from 7am to 7pm, we will pray for an end to abortion at Lawrence and Dufferin, bearing a peaceful public witness for the sanctity of life.

What We Do

We stand 50 meters from an abortion clinic at Dufferin & Lawrence praying peacefully for the protection of human life. More specifically, we pray from the parking lot of St. Charles Borromeo Parish, which is just down the street from the abortion clinic.

How We Do It

We pray for the protection of human life while holding signs with encouraging messages to help mothers choose life.

We also maintain connections with pregnancy centres like the St Joseph Centre of Hope for Women that can assist pregnant women who find themselves in difficult circumstances.

How to Participate

  1. Sign the Statement of Peace and sign up for hours through our website: https://www.40daysforlife.com/en/toronto

  2. Stand in a safe location, at least 50 metres away from the abortion clinic. Always ensure you are not blocking any sidewalks or driveways.

  3. Get a sign. Text or call David at 905-999-6241 to find out how to obtain a sign.

Parking

You may park at St. Charles Borromeo Parish or the Daughters of St Paul bookstore. If you park at the parish, make sure you don't get blocked in during Mass, as the parish can get quite busy.

Incident Reporting

If you witness or are involved in an incident:

  1. Move immediately to a safe location.

  2. Report the incident to David at 905-999-6241.

For unsafe or illegal situations, contact the authorities:

Emergency: 911

Non-Emergency: 406-808-2222

If possible, take a photo or video of the aggressor or the vehicle’s license plate.

Do not respond to threats, act aggressively, or take offensive actions.

Remember that we are here only to pray. You do not have to debate anyone if you are not comfortable. Prayer is more powerful.

Remain peaceful and silent—this is your best protection.

Always remember uphold the values of 40 Days for Life.

If Someone Approaches Asking for Help

  1. Politely ask for their name and phone number.

  2. Refer them to the St Joseph Centre of Hope for Women or another pregnancy centre. See our Help Available resource for more information.

  3. If you are unable to do it yourself, contact David at 905-999-6241, who will reach out to the St Joseph Centre of Hope for Women or another pregnancy centre for you.
