A group had been praying on the pavement outside the abortion facility for about 20 minutes when a gentleman approached and asked why they were there.

After they explained the 40 Days for Life vigil, the man thanked them for being there ? and said he, too, opposed abortion.

One of the volunteers happened to mention that 90 percent of all children diagnosed in the womb with Down syndrome were aborted ? and how that was an utter shame, as Down children were such a joy.

The visitor said he understood their concern, as he has a son with learning difficulties. He and his wife had been told that their first child had a risk of disability and abortion might be the better course.

It was only then that the man presented his ID card and introduced himself as a police constable. ?He asked us if we knew our rights regarding the police and told us we had every right to be there,? one of the volunteers said. ?He thanked us and drove off.?

An hour later, a woman approached the group and talked with them for about ten minutes. It was only then that the volunteers noticed the car she had arrived in.

?In the car were the police constable and two young boys,? the volunteer recalled. ?He said that after speaking to us earlier, he had to come back with his wife and kids. They brought us all tea and coffee.?

They stayed for a short while and again thanked the group for praying ? ?and then this wonderful family said goodbye and left us with a warm feeling.?
